From July 1 next year, the solar credits scheme will be scaled back -
reducing average rebates to households installing a 1.5 kilowatt
system in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth or Adelaide from $6200 to $5000. But
the move, announced by the Climate Change Minister in Melbourne, is
expected to save householders about $12 next year by lowering the
amount of high-cost power that electricity retailers are required to
buy under the government's renewable energy target.
